Vitality® New Zealand Eye Sight
The four leading eye afflictions affecting the older generation are macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
The younger generation is affected by eye stress, air pollution, unbalanced nutrition and excess exposure of the eye to computer and television radiation. In general, the human body is constantly exposed to pollution, poor nutrition, ageing and stress, each of which will increase the risk of oxidative stress.
The accepted remedy is the consumption of antioxidants. The most effective antioxidants are the anthocyanin range of naturally occurring phytochemicals. The two anthocyanins that are most beneficial to general eye health are delphinidin-3-rutinoside (D3R) and cyanidin-3-rutinoside (C3R).
New Zealand blackcurrants are known to have the highest anthocyanin content in the world (Figure 1). It has been proven the most effective out of the four major anthocyanins found in New Zealand blackcurrants are the same D3R and C3R needed for good eye health. These two account for up to 92% of the total anthocyanin content of Vitality® New Zealand blackcurrant extract.
Vitality® New Zealand Eye Sight has been developed to deliver constant anthocyanin, in addition Vitamin A, Lutein and Zeaxanthin to maintain eye health and vision, particularly in preventing cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
The health benefits of anthocyanins are outstanding but the benefits aren’t confined to anthocyanin as the Blackcurrant berry fruit has good levels of potassium, phosphorus, iron, manganese and Vitamin B5, and a broad range of other essential nutrients.
