So, here at VitalityNZ™ New Zealand, we wish to carry these Kiwi qualities to the world through our quality natural health supplements.
Who are we?
Jim and David co-founded VitalityNZ™ with a deep understanding of NZ blackcurrants, having over 80 years of combined experience, and a passion for plant-based health supplements.
David is a second-generation blackcurrant farmer while Jim was an agronomist, the inaugural President of the International Blackcurrant Association and is a current board member of Blackcurrant New Zealand. You could say blackcurrants are in their blood!
It was during these many years in the industry that they witnessed the amazing benefits of the blackcurrant berry first-hand in family and friends who consumed them regularly. Their curiosity led them on a quest to discover the potential health properties of these magical purple berries.
They contracted independent researcher, Associate Professor Dr Jian Guan of the Centre for Brain Research, who spent many hours in the laboratory analyzing every part of the blackcurrant. In the late 1990’s, she discovered the unique cyclic Glycine-Proline (cGP) molecule, essential for regulating hormones in the body responsible for a healthy brain and body. In 2016 Dr Jian Guan found in a Parkinson’s Disease clinical trial that blackcurrants lifted the cGP level in the cerebral spinal fluid and blood plasma.
This was a world-first discovery by Dr Guan on behalf of VitalityNZ™ leading to the development of Brain Shield™ that has been granted a novel patent.
The natural health benefits of the high levels of anthocyanins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids in blackcurrants are well known in many countries around the world. VitalityNZ™ went on to develop these to produce a specialist family of products to join their groundbreaking Brain Shield™.
Ongoing trials continue to provide scientific evidence that our products are effective, with several papers published recently and more to be published in 2020. On top of this, people using our products are happy to tell others the benefits they've experienced and they keep coming back for more.

Natural and Unmodified
By sourcing New Zealand-grown crops, we can guarantee the quality of our products through a comprehensive track-and-trace software package. With our internationally recognised breeding program, there is no requirement for genetically modified breeding traits. These processes will contribute to the health and wellness of our consumers.
Vitamins and nutrients from international sources are included in our products, but they are certified by the rigorous Certification of Analysis testing regimes and manufactured under good manufacturing practices (GMP).
Non-Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) are a bottom-line requirement for VitalityNZ™ New Zealand products. Therefore, we have investigated all plant breeding traits to ensure our products are GMO free.
